Don’t ride your bike at Minneapolis airport; you could be tasered

A bicyclist tells an incredible story of police brutality after being stopped for riding his folding bicycle away from the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport after a flight in September.

Stephan Orsak, writing at his Greencycle website, said he was “rudely accosted, assaulted with battery,” and tasered. He says he was complying with all the laws of the airport and Minnesota rules of the road at the time of the incident.

After he was hospitalized for observation, the 135-pound violinist was thrown in jail for 8 hours and eventually charged with six counts of obstructing officers, failure to comply, etc.; the usual charges you’ll see in cases like this. …

New toy for Spike

Thats right kids I got a new toy, it’s a full body Pro Motion wetsuit, this is my first one and it fits great. I went for a swim in it today and wow what a cool thing, I actually can float now (I can go right to the bottom with full lungs) In my neighborhood pool (86 deg.) it was a bit on the warm side but I cut 5 strokes off of my normal 25 yds. and was like a cork, with my first race of the season on Fathers Day I can’t wait to try it out in open and cold water. Ill let you guys know how it went on the 18th.
Happy training/racing
Spike.

New to triathlons. I could use your help.

Hello everyone. I’m looking to start doing triathlons but I feel kind of overwhelmed with the ammount of info available. I have done 4 marathons in the past few years and just recently completed my best one yet in Ottawa (3:45:icon_dance: ). I’ve purchased myself an entry level roadbike, nothing fancy as i’m a hard working military member with the wife and a couple of kids, but it will suffice. What I really need is for someone to help guide me as to what I need to do to get ready for a triathlon, at least olympic distance for starters, sometime this summer. Any advice on training, events in the Ontario region, or kit I may need is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Eric

1984 Bike Tour: Day 27 - Beautiful scenery and never-ending hills

HOUSTON, MO. - The hills in the Ozarks are bigger, steeper, and harder to climb than I expected. At Carl’s Cafe in Eminence, Carl said we’d have to walk our loaded touring bicycles up these hills. No way. We pedaled – very slowly.

Bruce isn’t feeling well this morning, but I don’t think that’s holding us back. Gravity’s doing that. …
